About

Matt and Eric are BFFs, and 98% of their friendship is based on All Time Low songs. That is not meant to be a joke but it does kind of sound like one.

Matt lives in Austin, Texas and works as a market research analyst. He is a self-proclaimed musicphile and aspires to one day write, create, and produce his own music, just like Owl City but not horrible. He enjoys playing guitar and bass, University of Texas sports, and medium-length walks on the beach. Perfect mixtape: Pixies, Brand New, Killer Mike, White Album era Beatles, Cloud Nothings, Ty Segall, Sam Cooke, George Strait, and Frederic Chopin. He is lukewarm on Vampire Weekend but vigorously defends the use of the Oxford comma.

Eric is back home in Austin, Texas, after a brief period of living in Virginia to find himself, and also to have a job. He is a nocturnal copy editor and page designer at the Austin American-Statesman and an aspiring pop culture essayist, if he plays his cards right. He has always wanted to front a pan-genre dance-punk band but has no musical talent to speak of, except the ability to play the French horn. He also tweets on the reg. Perfect mixtape: Relient K, Kanye West, Vampire Weekend, Robyn, Death Cab for Cutie, Owen, the Smiths, the Avett Brothers, Fleetwood Mac and Bing Crosby.

We only write about new music we love, and Lana Del Rey. You can contact us at matt.jones445@gmail.com.

Pop culture essayist, I’m assuming the basis for that is Chuck Klosterman?

Love the Bio, guys – really looking to following you!

    Eric, The Smiths rock! 🙂

  4. Music is one of my passions too. Keep it going!

  5. Good to meet you, guys. Since I’ve been a Regina fan for honks, I was delighted to see she has a new album out, and that it’s the most Regina-Ishmail to date (I think I flipped the first time I heard Samson!). Which brings me to why I’m going to follow: I’ve been living in Sri Lanka for four years and really, the less said about the pop drivel I have access to here, the better! Just this week Apple opened its store in South Asia, and I can at last (alleluia) download music. But what? I reckon folks who dig Regina might be pretty good guides to what’s good – no, strike that! – interesting, to get me back in the grove:)

  6. Oops – auto correct went wild! That’s yonks not honks. Regina-ish not Regina-Ishmail

  7. Great work Matt-Eric. You got me hooked on the first article i read. Eric, i guess your copy-editing skills kick in well here… it kicked my teeth in. As for the Oxford comma, i never really thought about it before, but you got it stuck in my head. You guys left me toothless, comma obsessed, and addicted. Sounds like i’m on Meth.

Either way, i’m impressed by the work and i believe we have “something” in common. The “something” would take far too long to describe, particularly as a response… so i’ll keep it short and let you decide.

I co-founded an English music magazine in Egypt (actually, we are the only English music magazine in the country.) It wasn’t easy, but we love it. We support all indie/experimental bands in the region, and oh we’re called Discord Music Magazine.

Having been a copywriter, a teacher, then briefly a copywriter again, then an editor, to co-founding a magazine, and currently the creative director of that magazine, i believe it is safe to say that we are heading in the same direction, just on parallel roads.. a few thousands miles away.

Check our magazine out, and hit me with your feedback. i see a collaboration of some sort.

I’m Walid, you could email me on wazied@discordmagazine.com

P.S. My WordPress account isn’t the magazine, it’s just me trying to get a hold of how the hell it works… it helps before i tinker with the actual magazine’s. If it were up to me, it would be typewriter’s all the way.

Glad I found you guys! I review music too…I’m in Georgia (the state, not the country…although I do live in the country…nevermind). Somehow I’ve ended up reviewing tons of bands from Canada, though. Oh, the interwebs!

Matt I AM JUDGING your One Direction choice for no good reason. But you redeem yourself with Zeppelin on your mixtape. Have a cookie.

    I’ll be Bach.

Haaaaa thanks for the comment Zack. I like to imagine we live in a world where rational, decent human beings can reconcile ’70s hard rock badassery with adolescents singing cliches in perfect harmony.

I think your pun generator might be Baroque.

Hi guys, I’m wondering if I can ask you about your header/avatars?

My friend and I are in the process of creating our own ezine and we’re interested in creating (or having someone create) cool little images of us – rather simply posting a photograph. Could you tell me how you sourced yours? Any info/advice would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Kate
